Jen + Daniel - Segerstrom Concert Hall Wedding 6-25-11

Jen and Daniel were one of our favorite couples this year and they got married at one of our favorite venues, the Segerstrom Concert Hall (OC Performing Arts Center).  Unique details, cultural influences in a modern setting are what set this wedding apart from the rest.  Enjoy the pictures below:

TEXTURE! and Dress Types for Body Types

As I thumb through the Summer 2011 issue of Martha Stewart Weddings Magazine I cant help but notice all the texture in the bridal gown ads.  I predicted this late last year as the trend for this year's weddings and sure enough, I was right :)  The adding of these details to wedding gowns brings the whole "vintage" feel, sometimes with a modern twist, for the bride of the 21st century.  Taking the best of the past and pairing with the present dress structures will flatter any body type.

Don't like your arms (like most women) then look for a dress with small cap sleeves (see the 2nd gown from Lhuillier below) or wear a cute bolero to match your dress.  Want to accentuate your curves? Opt for an update to the mermaid-style dress with a Trumpeted gown (see 1st gown from Lhuillier below) that flares about mid-thigh so you can easily dance at your reception.  Pear-shaped?  Go for a fitted waistline with a flared skirt like the 2nd gown from Christos below.

From Monique Lhuillier to Christos to Jim Hjelm, texture is everywhere!  The Lhuillier ads show a lot of lace detailing, which I LOVE, and amazing texture with rhinestone appliques!  The 2 dresses below are my favorites...

Christos shows delicate appliques and lace texture too...see my favorites from their ad campaign below:

Jim Hjelm using texture in the skirting details paired with a simple bodice for those that want a little bit of both...

A Sweet Shower

I was flipping through Martha Stewart Weddings' Summer 2011 issue and came upon the cutest bridal shower I have seen in quite some time, and leave it to Dylan Lauren, daughter of fashion designer Ralph Lauren and owner of Dylan's Candy Bar, to be the honoree/bride for this shower.  It was thrown for her by the editorial director of Martha Stewart Weddings, Darcy Miller, and was a "Candy themed" event.  From the elegantly displayed Ring Pop favors to the Monochromatic Initial Candy Display to the Gumball Garland, this event was definitely well suited for the sweet bride, Dylan.  I would love to try something like this with one of my clients!

Below are some of my favorite pictures of the event:

Kat & Matt's Wedding 5-14-11 (Newport Beach, CA)

We had the honor of being the Wedding Coordinator for Katrina & Matt's wedding in Newport Beach on 5-14-11.  The bride was super creative with the decor elements she brought in to her home, where the ceremony took place, and over to the reception at The Cannery.  Greens and white were the prominent colors, a very organic feel to the wedding.  Its All About The Cake did an amazing job on the wedding cake, it photographed beautifully and was quite delectable!  Iva Bloom also did a wonderful job on the flowers, I look forward to working with them again on future weddings.

Our good friend Louis Trinh from Tikko Weddings was the photographer, will post his pictures as soon as they are available but here are some we took with our phones....

Bridal Show Flowers

Purple and Green

Trending this season in flowers has been shades of Purple and Green.  Flowers are taking a very organic look this season with White and Green pairings, which was prevalent at the wedding we did this past weekend in Newport Beach, and can go the way of the Modern-Themed wedding or very Shabby Chic with the Vintage-Eco Wedding trends I am sure a lot of you have seen in recent wedding blog posts/magazines.  The good thing about Purple and Green is that they have very pale and very saturated hues available in each color palette, which makes them a good color option for every season.

Below are some pictures of flowers from recent Bridal Shows we did....

2011/2012 Wedding Gown Trends

With the conclusion of the NY Bridal Market shows in April and the Royal Wedding at the end of April it was very apparent that texture, especially lace, will be one of the biggest trends in Bridal Gowns for the upcoming 2012 season.  As seen in Kate Middleton's Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen dress, the lace high collar and sleeved look, to cover up an exposed decolletage for a proper Catholic wedding (gotta love dress code restrictions for Catholic Church Weddings), will surely be a hit amongst brides opting for a traditional Catholic wedding.  However, I can also see this trend being popular with brides not getting married in a Catholic church in the form of a lace bolero (small jacket) over any strapless gown.

Scalloping, ruching, lots of layers...these are what we saw on the runways in coverage of the NYC Bridal Market Shows this April.  Some of the best dresses are below....
